Bust-a-move (also known as Puzzle Bobble in
Japan) is a devilishly addicting video game and also the game that made me
buy a Neo Geo home system (though the game doesn't exist for that
system).. Buying that machine started my collecting hobby, so here's a
little petition to one of the greatest puzzle games ever.
You control either Bub or Bob (of Bubble Bobble fame) or depending on the
game mode/version there are also other characters. The mission is to shoot
up colored bubbles and each time 3 or more similar colored bubbles meet,
they disappear. If any other bubbles are attached to the disappearing
bubbles (and not anything else), they will also fall down. In two-player
game each time either of the players drop more than 3 bubbles, the extra
bubbles will appear on the adversarys screen. Fun, simple, fun and
a-d-d-i-c-t-i-v-e. And fun!
The music and sound effects vary a little
from system to system, but the melodies are catchy and some sound effects
stick to mind.
